Child Care - top
With over 100 years of experience, Armed Services YMCA child care
programs emphasize the growth of the whole person. The program is
based on four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Before and After School Care - The
Armed Services YMCA provides before and after school care at Johnsonville
Elementary School and Highland Elementary School, both located
in Harnett County. The program includes daily devotion, snack,
homework time, games, outdoor activities and arts and crafts.
Full day care is available on teacher workdays, holidays and school
breaks. The before and after school program operates from 6:00
a.m. - 6:15 p.m.
Summer Adventure Camp - This camp
begins the day after school ends, thus eliminating any stress
on working parents to find appropriate care for their children.
Our summer program includes daily devotion, field trips, swimming,
singing, reading program, arts and crafts and sports. The program
operates from 6:00 a.m. - 6:15 p.m @ Johnsonville Elementary School in Harnett County.
Staff - We look for dedicated individuals
who can be sensitive to the needs of children. Staff is selected
for their maturity, patience, experience working with children,
leadership skills and enthusiasm. Each staff member is CPR and
First Aid Certified. Our child-to-staff ratio is 15:1.
Soldier Support -
top
Donations from Proctor & Gamble, First Books, Mattel, TALK and
Woman’s Day are distributed to deployed soldiers and family
members.
Holiday Hearts -
top Done in conjunction with Army Community Service to help
meet the needs of military families suffering extreme financial
hardship during the holidays by providing gifts for their children.
The program requires an application process in which the unit first
sergeant or commander verifies the financial need. The children
are listed on a “heart” with only “boy”
or girl”, their age, sizes, and gift wish and placed on a
tree. Individuals may select a heart from the tree and deliver the
gifts to the ASYMCA for distribution. Gift certificates are also
purchased for families to purchase food items at the Commissary.
For the second year in a row, Woman's Day Magazine, along with GIfts
In Kind, Inc. and Mattel, will assist the ASYMCA at the national
level in supporting this program. Our Ft. Bragg/Pope AFB branch
has also been fortunate to have assistance from various community
organizations.
School Supply Drive
- top Done in conjunction with Army Community Service to help
meet the needs of military families suffering financial hardship
by providing children backpacks and other school supplies. All supplies
are given to the elementary schools on Fort Bragg and Pope AFB for
them to distribute to the children in need.
